Virtual Bosque
Albuquerque Overbank Project

This joint project of the Bureau of Reclamation, the MRGCD and the Albuquerque Open Space Division is a demonstration project of the potential for over banking. A river bar was cleared of exotic vegetation and re-graded to the water table to allow for periodic flooding. There is direct access to the area from the levee trail.

Directions: East on Arenal Road to the Rio Grande Valley State Park; then walk south in the Bosque on the prominent trail closest to the river. Interpretive signs mark the site.
