This area provides a prime example of the potential for integration
of diverse restoration and recreation activities presented by the Bosque project.
Outside the levee there is Kit Carson Park, the south end of Tingley Beach, and
the zoo.
Along the levee is the bike and walking trails and inside the levee will
be the future over bank wetlands with boardwalks and restored bosque with interpretive
trails. Currently, there is an outwash from the zoo into the bosque, which, along with
the overflow from the Tingley ponds, will provide a good source of water for the wetlands.
• Wetland restoration area
• Recreation-restoration functional and interpretive linkages
Directions: Drive 0.75 miles south on
levee road along the west side of Tingley (east side of the river) from Central Avenue.
